Sample Itineraries
This is your trip, for your group. We're not combining you with teachers/students from other schools, so we can tailor your itinerary to suit your group perfectly. One of the following suggested itineraries may be a perfect fit for your group, but if it's not then let us make it perfect!
From the comfort and convenience of our centrally located hotel all the sights of the city are a short walk or metro ride away - the iconic Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, the magnificent Notre-Dame Cathedral and Sacré-Cœur Basilica, the Louvre, d’Orsay, and Rodin Museums, the Bateaux Mouches, and Napoleon’s Tomb. A day trip to Versailles includes a tour of the palace, an afternoon relaxing in the gardens, boating on the Grand Canal, and exploring Marie Antoinette’s cottages.
North of Paris students are the rolling hills, rugged coastline, and sweeping beaches of Brittany and Normandy. While in Brittany we stay in Saint-Malo, a walled city in a commanding position overlooking the English Channel, it was home of the Corsairs, notorious for piracy, and the birthplace of Jacques Cartier whose explorations of Canada's coast and the St. Lawrence River laid the basis for French claims to North America. From Saint-Malo we'll take a day trip to explore the enchanting Mont Saint-Michel. While in Normandy we stay in Bayeux, home of the renowned tapestry depicting the Norman Conquest of England in 1066 by William the Conqueror. We'll split into small historian-led groups to visit the beaches where American troops came ashore, the countryside where American paratroopers landed, and the cemetary where many of them came to rest. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of Operation Overlord, the Allied Invasion on D-Day, and the events which followed.
South of Paris is the Loire Valley where we’ll overnight in four historic cities along the river: Chartres, Angers, Saumur and Blois. While in these cities we'll visit Cathédrale Notre Dame with it’s world renowned collection of stained glass windows, the mighty cliff top fortress at Angers - home of famed Apocalypse Tapestries, the majestic Château de Saumur, Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud - resting place of the Plantagenets, the monumental Château de Blois, Château Chambord - designed by Leonardo Da Vinci, and Château de Chenonceau, stretching romantically across the River Cher.
South of the Loire Valley are Provence and the Côte d'Azur. While in Provence we'll overnight in Avignon and Nîmes and take a day trip to Aigues-Mortes. We'll spend a day in Marseille on the way to Nice from where we'll explore the French Riviera like locals with excursions to Antibes, Cagnes-sur-Mer, St-Jean-Cap Ferrat and Eze using Nice's public transport system. The Palace of the Popes in Avignon, the Arena in Nîmes, the Ramparts of Aigues-Mortes, the Port of Marseille, the sweeping view of Monaco and Monte Carlo from La Turbie, the village of Èze perched on a cliff 1500’ over the water, the works of Matisse, Renoir and Picasso, the brilliant sunshine, and the scent of lavender, olive and citrus everywhere will provide a lifetime of memories for everyone.
