Itinerary
This itinerary puts a winter spin on our classic Quebec City trip. Just like our classic trip, we'll explore Old Quebec - the historic district of the city - which feels like an old European city with its narrow cobbled streets, historical buildings, universities, convents and churches, plazas and parks, shops and restaurants. We'll also head outside Québec City to tour the stunning Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, marvel at the Montmorency Falls from its observation decks and the suspension bridge that spans the Montmorency. What makes the winter adventure special is the guided tour through the ephemeral Hôtel de Glace, dog-sledding through the maple trees in the woods outside Quebec, an evening of traditional food and entertainment at a Sugar Shack, and Valcartier Winter Park with its wide range of snow tubing runs including the Tornado, Everest, and Himalaya.
Day | City | Overview |
---|---|---|
1 | Quebec | Meet your Program Director and enjoy the ride straight to the heart of Old Québec City. Check into 4-Star Hotel Clarendon conveniently located in the heart of the old town at Place de l’Hotel de Ville. Navigate to Place d'Armes, where the historic battles for Quebec City are played out on a massive scale model of the city at the the Musée du Fort. À la carte dining at the hip and trendy Cosmos on Grand Allée followed by a Ghost Tour of the old city. |
2 | Quebec | Hearty breakfast of Breton-style stuffed Crepes at Casse-Crêpe Breton. Compare French and British Military Strategy, participate in Artillery and Infantry drills then help conduct Field Medical Procedures at the Plains of Abraham Discovery Center. Experience a high-speed toboggan ride on Dufferin Terrace before lunch and shopping on Rue Saint-Jean. Scenic drive along the St. Lawrence River to Beauport where you'll create your own work of art at Albert Gilles’ Copper Embossing Workshop, then to Beaupré where we'll tour the Saint Anne of Beaupré Basilica (don’t miss the copper entrance doors, embossed by Albert Gilles). Admire Montmorency Falls from the suspension bridge that crosses the river just as the water tumbles over the cliffs, then head deep into a forest to experience a dog-sled ride through sugar maple trees followed by an evening enjoying traditional food, music, and dance at a Traditional Sugar Shack Evening. Board motor coach to experience a traditional Quebecois food and entertainment at a Sugar Shack. |
3 | Quebec | Hearty breakfast at immensely popular Le Cochon Dingue “The Crazy Pig”. Coach to Valcartier Winter Park for a tour of the Ice Hotel before splitting up for a few hours to experience as many of their thrill-inducing snow tubing and snow rafting runs as possible. Lunch at one of the great restaurants in the base lodge. Back on the bus, it's time to head home. Au Revoir Québec! |
